Adventures in: Video Game Creation

Ages 9-13

In this hands-on, fun-filled course you will learn how video games work by creating your own. Within a few hours, you'll have completed your first game using Click Team's Multimedia Fusion 2.

Over the course of the week you'll have a chance to create games from a variety of genres (including action, adventure, platform, side-scrollers, pinball, strategy, and racing) or invent new ones. Design your own characters, backgrounds and sounds, or use content from existing libraries. We'll cover concepts like game planning, path-based movement, collision detection, level design, dialogue, inventory and playability. Students will help each other play-test their games, and may choose to collaborate on some projects. At the end of the week you'll be able to show off your games to friends, family and other campers. You'll also receive a CD of your work so you can continue to play and develop your games at home.

New for 2008! In addition to new curriculum all students who take this course will be able to post their games to the web for others to view and play!

This camp/course is ideal for kids who want to move from just playing video games to actually learning about and creating them!  If you want to learn all about what goes on behind the scenes of video games and how games are built this is the course for you!
