| We’re parents too! We understand that safety is extremely important. In fact, some of our own children are enrolled in Digital Media Adventures. From First Aid and CPR training to in-depth staff background checks, our program has taken every precaution to ensure a safe and fun experience. - We employ a secure check-in and check-out system for day campers. No one is allowed to pick up your child without proper identification and written authorization on file.
- All our counselors carry cell phones and can be easily reached at any time. Likewise, they can contact you should the need arise (e.g. acute homesickness).
- Campers are supervised at all times. We use the “buddy system” to ensure your child’s safety, even during a bathroom break.
- In addition to our stringent background checks, we use the common sense, no “one-on-one” rule. Your child will not be left alone in the presence of only one adult.
- We require all our staff to undergo thorough risk management and emergency procedures training.

- Campers are housed together in doubles or triples. Girls and boys are housed in different parts of the dorm, usually on different floors.
- Male and female counselors live with the kids in the dorm. They are housed in their own separate rooms on the same floor as the kids under their charge. Counselors are onsite 24/7 to ensure constant supervision and safety.
- Roommates are matched by gender, and as closely as possible, by age and course. If your son or daughter comes with a friend, we are happy to accommodate roommate requests. Just let us know on your registration form.
- Dorm buildings remain locked at all times, restricting external access.
- Counselors are trained in emergency procedures and aware of emergency exits and building evacuation routes in the unlikely event of an emergency.
- Counselors coordinate evening and weekend activities, facilitating fun and friendship, while ensuring a safe experience for everyone.

- Our live-in residential staff are all adults who have been trained in First Aid and CPR. Minor injuries can be treated on site.
- In the event of a medical emergency, we have access to Stanford University health care. We are in close proximity to world-renowned Stanford Medical Center.
- Parents will be immediately notified in case of injury or illness.

At Digital Media Adventures, we promote a positive, age-appropriate environment.
- We use Internet blocking software to protect our kids from harmful content.
- Computer and video game tournaments will be held outside of class time as recreational activities. Cooperation and not just competition will be stressed.
- All computer and video games will have age-appropriate ratings.
- In game design courses, campers will create positive, age-appropriate projects.
- Our counselors and staff create an atmosphere for building friendship, where everyone knows they belong.
- We build rest and recreation into our daily schedule, blending classroom instruction with breaks for fun and movement out of doors.
- We keep our campers’ age in mind when setting bedtimes, to allow ample time for fun and the rest they need.

- All staff are fingerprinted. We run thorough criminal and sex offender background checks (both State of California and Federal) on all our residential and classroom staff.
- All of our carefully-selected staff receive multiple reference checks and are thoroughly trained to ensure our high standards of quality.
- We only select staff who are knowledgeable about technology and great at working with kids.
